The Interview

What are your best memories related to wine?
So many …. (laugh) … I think probably visiting wineries. It’s one of the greatest moments. When you are fully able to experience the wine. You are surrounded by a magical atmosphere, observe how the wine is created … I think it’s the best experience for me. A comprehensive understanding of diverse perspectives allows a deeper appreciation of any situation.
As a mother and businesswoman in the wine industry, can you tell us what is your perception about your kids and alcohol and wine?
Well, we are being quite open about different subjects. As I work with wine, we are speaking a lot about my work. Actually, my kids know a lot about the wine business and what I’m doing … Sometimes they even help me to arrange wine boxes and wine deliveries, meeting my customers. Managers, sommeliers, restaurant owners know my children. But I won’t let them be involved in the process of selling alcohol until they reach 18. But in terms of knowledge and information, I see nothing wrong if they are aware of the industry and understand what I’m doing. Whether they are working in the wine market or anywhere else is just a different product. The most important thing is to talk about it. Communication is the key.
What kind of relation can they have with wine in the future?
I would never push them to continue my work in my field. After their studies, they’ll make their own choice. If they want to continue to do that, they’re welcome. At this stage we have a couple of years until they finish school. Of course, I’ll be happy if they are working with me. But it is something definitely up to them. Freedom is love.
What’s your favorite or most inspiring quote about life?
There are so many surprises … Good and bad ones that we can face in life. So, I can say live your life to the fullest, give and share positivity, then you’ll have no regrets.
Q&A

White or red wine?
It really depends on the situation. If it’s hot outside, I prefer to have a glass of white wine. But in winter or if I travel to Finland, I prefer to have a glass of red wine.
Bordeaux or Burgundy?
Burgundy.
Vintage or New wines?
Vintage.
French or Italian?
French.
Champagne or Prosecco? What’s your favorite one?
Recently I prefer to drink Prosecco because it is much lighter. I’ll take champagne to celebrate something. But my favorite is of course Rozoy Picot terpschamp.
Cocktail or spirits?
Neither (laugh) … I prefer wine or champagne. But if I must choose, I prefer cocktails.
What’s your favorite one?
I prefer fresh ones like Caipirinha Caipiroska.
Seafood or meat?
Fish.
Best place for a wine moment: winery or restaurant?
I think winery … Restaurant is more casual even if it’s a nice one. Winery is something you don’t experience every week, and you are not in your regular environment. That brings you something special. Get out of your comfort zone to explore extraordinary experiences in life.
Beach or mountain?
A difficult one … Maybe the mountain. But I like both again. It depends on the occasion because they provide you with a totally different experience. Choose what suits you.
Movies or series?
It depends (laugh) … Normally we watch series with the kids, because it’s easy to manage one episode. Then we can carry on other tasks. But during the weekend, when you have a little bit more time, then you can go for a longer movie. Adapt yourself!
